The tour starts at the bottom of the city and Barachois. Evocative street names (rue du Pavillon de Mast, Moulin-à-wind, battery) recall that we tried to make Saint-Denis a port from the time of Labourdonnais. Today, Barachois is a large square flanked by a few shady original facades India Company and the Prefecture, former governor's lodge.

This ancient road built in the middle of last century has been the only link between Saint-Denis and the rest of the island until 1963, when to which the coastal road was completed. This road link is very important to the island because it links the seaport to the capital.

Getaways: The Cinchona Islet, venue picnic and swim. Le Morne-potatoes-to-Durand (or Adam's Peak) at Piton de Bois Trail Nèfles .- Botanical Providence, Brule (starting point for many hikes) .- The recreational area of Colorado .- The Great Boat, Old Railway Station Reunion yet equipped with a locomotive Schneider 030T, first classified historic monument mobile Island.
Picturesque: The shops that line the downtown streets offer a good show, where neighborly customs and traditions. Came from three continents as there is not an ethnic but a people of Reunion with subtle nuances. The new pedestrian area of downtown can walk among many businesses.
